It would seem to be an indication of the adequacy of James' argument that you didn't even find it necessary to have any footnoted references. :-)

Carry it on, my friend.

The (almost non-existant) regret rates speak for themselves.

It's funny how you can see which bubble people are coming from when they invoke the Matrix in this way. Right wingers and incels have coopted it despite it being a metaphors for quite the opposite according to its creators. Neo is a symbol for the closeted trans person, the Matrix is the construction of sex and gender he has to wake up from. He notices something is not quite right below the surface...

There are many more allegories in the movies if you look further than the simple "wake up" metaphor and the ironic pill scene. But complexity flies way over their head.

Like when they find out "Killing in the name of" by Rage Against The Machine is not a call to arms for Proud Boys 😅

I have seen so often people claiming that the growing abandonment of the Dutch Protocol is a sign for Gender Affirming Care being abandoned by doctors - silently omitting that it's quite the opposite: many leading experts are abandoning the protocol in favour of starting hormones *earlier* for kids showing consistent gender dysphoria from a young age. Contrary to what these fans of anecdotal evidence want to make us believe, science supports that in the vast majority of cases, it's *not* a phase.

Can't edit... Of course I meant "iconic pill scene" - although you can interpret the pills as a stand in for hormones vs. antidepressants - transition vs. continuous suffering.
