Listen, I stayed away from my father for this reason. Before I knew I was trans, I thought I was a lesbian. He rejected that and it got physical. He kept me at arm's length the rest of his life. I always felt like he was worried I would ruin is stellar reputation. Thing is, mama raised us well while he was away. I wouldn't have dreamed of being some kind of weird dyke around him. My sister and I were well-behaved and understood our assignments.

His new wife got him to accept me some, but she was part of the problem, too. "Not too close, Bobby. I want you, your fame & your money to myself!" I so wanted to be close to him, but he wasn't having it. I chased him around like an animal needing water. He merely tolerated me, and it probably did effect my mental health. His ego was huge!

Thank you for saying all this. Made me sad, but also made me understand that I wasn't the problem. His/their bent thinking was. Happy New Year, Pitt!!

Thanks so much for posting this. Barely scrolled through their publication before being called literally cancer - so happy to see another person standing up to intolerance and prejudice! And you were downright polite about it even
