I’ve said this often in several places: my trans family member shines like the star that they are since transitioning. They smile more, laugh more, and are now very comfortable in their skin. They have a great job, a loving partner and fuck anyone who would try to take that away with their cruelty and misinformation.

People are scared of what they don’t understand, but what’s worse is they don’t even try. Why do so many find it much easier to give into fear than to educate oneself, I’ll never understand.

Trans joy is so important to showcase. If your only exposure to trans lives is through the media, you’ll walk away with the impression that we are living breathing tragedies. By highlighting the joy we find in living as our authentic selves it shifts the narrative, which is why transphobes hate it so much. If trans people are living happy, healthy, and productive lives, it becomes very hard to pathologize us.
